as the marketing & special Events Manager at Bellingrath Gardens and Home
My biggest projects at Bellingrath Gardens and Home were to lead a re-branding campaign and to work throughout planning special events that bring visitors into the Gardens.
Bellingrath includes a beautiful garden and museum home, so the re-branding campaign focused on capturing the spirit of Southern tradition with the hospitality and elegance of the gardens. To update the look, we created a clean, modern design that focused on inviting visuals. With an engaging and user-friendly website, Bellingrath's opportunities to be featured in magazines opened up, and the Gardens continue to see a return on this new look.
Each Christmas season Bellingrath turns into a 65-acre Winter Wonderland for Magic Christmas in Lights. In 2014 USA Today ranked Magic Christmas in Lights as one of the Top 10 Public Light Displays bringing an extra amount of attention to this event. I worked with our marketing team in the summer of 2015 to plan a well-rounded marketing campaign for Magic Christmas in Lights 2015.

As a junior ae & proofreader at Red square gaming
At Red Square Gaming, I worked as a Junior Account Executive managing gaming advertising for casino clients. I worked with my supervising account executive to create promotional material for four casino properties. My supervising account executive and I successfully reduced all-agency hours for our four properties by 50% from May 2013 to May 2014.
Before being promoted to a Junior AE at Red Square, I was hired as a Proofreader. I quickly had my eyes opened to what it really means to send out ads that are as close to perfect as possible. I saw a broad scope of gaming brand standards, and came to appreciate what it really meant to have everything due at once.

AS the SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN and freelance blogger AT HUMMINGBIRD IDEAS
At Hummingbird Ideas, I wrote blogs for a wide variety of businesses. Click on the links for blogs about lady bugs and terrifying grain weevils, for example. Through my internship at Hummingbird, I learned that social media is a powerful way to connect with audiences. I love the analytical and writing aspects of social media. Social media's curveball is that it is always changing; so I learned that to stay competitive you have to try to figure out what will become popular just as, or before, that happens.
I was able to take my knowledge from Hummingbird to fuel the promotions for my fundraiser, the Run of the Hill 5K. This knowledge from Hummingbird also prompted my continued interest in social media and gave me a fantastic springboard for taking on the social media responsibility at Bellingrath Gardens and Home.

As the public relations intern at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab
I wrote news templates like this one, and they were published in newspapers like The Gadsden Times. And while this is not a measurable term, I took a lot of pictures which are used as stock photos for the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. My most important take away from this internship was not being afraid to ask questions. I am not a scientist; but to externally communicate what the Sea Lab was doing, I had to have a basic understanding of what the scientists were up to. Through asking questions, I was able to relate to the scientists, communicate the projects they were working on, and I even got to tag a shark. Here are some of the pictures I took at the Sea Lab:
AS THE MARKETING & DEVELOPMENT INTERN AT BELLINGRATH GARDENS AND HOME
At Bellingrath, I learned about the detail that goes into planning successful events and annual memberships. I helped plan and implement three major annual events at the gardens. Bellingrath has one of the most successful membership campaigns of botanical gardens in the country, so it was fascinating to learn the strategy of keeping existing members and enticing new members to join the association.
As the news editor for the springhillian
I wrote news articles and columns for the school newspaper. I designed the layout for the "News" section, and edited content for the articles in this section. On a side note, I had no idea how to learn InDesign before becoming the News Editor, but I learned how to be proficient at using the program in the first couple of weeks.
As the organizer of the 'Destin's tree' fundraiser
I organized this fundraiser my freshman year to plant a tree in dedication for a friend and SHC classmate, Destin Doughty, who passed away. This was before I had learned anything about public relations, advertising, or fundraising strategies, but I scrapped together a fundraiser to raise more than enough money to buy an oak tree and plaque for the memorial.
